CYO ATHLETICS OVERVIEW

The CYO participates in a variety of athletic leagues sponsored by the Archdiocesan CYO/Youth Ministry Office. Sports offered include: Co-ed Volleyball, Co-ed Cabbageball, Boys' Flag Football, Girls' Flag Football, Boys' Basketball, and Girls' Basketball. Teens listed on their high school's varsity or JV roster with the LHSAA are not eligible for that specific sport in CYO.  All other teens are invited and encouraged to get involved as a way to meet other teens, compete in an atmosphere of Christian sportsmanship, and enjoy some recreation time.  

 

CYO CO-ED KICKBALL - SPRING 2021

 

TEAMS: St. Dominic CYO has three teams in the league.  Each team is roughly equal size and with a male/female balance to comply with league rules.  We worked to keep friends together but please flexible with where you were placed.  

GAMES: YOU MUST ARRIVE 15 MINUTES BEFORE GAME TIME.  Spectators may attend games, but must bring their own chair and practice social distancing.

Permission Form and Payment

You must return a cabbageball permission form (available from the permission form folder on www.stdominiccyo.org)  and $10 to Brooke Javier or Johnny at the first game you attend. 

Athletic Jerseys

All players must have the CYO athletic T-shirt (number on the back.)  If this is your first time playing on a CYO athletic team, your shirt is complimentary; please let Johnny  know that you need one.  If you have played on a previous CYO athletic team, you should have a shirt from that past season; if you lost your old shirt or need a new size, you will have to pay $10 for a new one.

Coaches

Johnny Smestad, Youth Minister, will be present at most, if not all, games.  Coaches include CYO alums Maureen Early and Jeffrey Schott. 

If you are not able to attend a game, you must e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. at least one day before the game or call Johnny  so we can be sure we will have enough players and the correct male/female ratio to avoid forfeiting. 

Weather Cancellations

In the event of a weather-related cancellation, you will receive a text message as soon as we receive notice from the archdiocesan league coordinator.  Please pay attention to text messages about changes in game schedules.

Field Locations

Besides St. Dominic, we have games scheduled at St Edward on West Metairie at Transcontinental, St. Angela Merici in Metairie (on Melody off Veterans,) and St. Benilde in Metairie (on Division Street between West Napoleon and West Metairie.)  There is no grace period, and if we do not have enough players (including minimum ratio of male to female) present at the start time, we forfeit.  If we forfeit, every player on the team is assessed a $25 penalty fee.  Please arrange your own transportation.
